I didn’t like Kona and its environs as much as Kauai, but i was glad JL got to see it. He loved seeing all the old black lava and the landscape. And Hapuna Beach was just beautiful, though incredibly windy.
For me, the standout was The Grand Hyatt. What a well oiled (expensive) machine! Everyone was fantastic and the grounds are breathtaking. Friendly staff, wonderful (expensive) food. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We were so fortunate to get to stay there.
First class flights were nice too, given the length of the flights. The red eye back from Kona was one of the newer planes with the “beds” in 1st class. Such a nice way to travel. Gotta love those amex points!????
